Organic Grocery & Produce Store open in Crestline

A very needed and welcomed organic grocery and produce store is now open in Crestline, the Natural Median Organics & Fair Trade Store!  Health conscious eaters will be both relieved and excited that organic produce and organic foods are now available in Crestline, just 2 minutes from Lake Gregory and 15 minutes from Lake Arrowhead.

Located in a cute A-Frame building just 2 minutes from Lake Gregory, this organic food store fills a missing gap in the area with its healthy food offerings.  Those health nuts among you who have been renting cabins in the mountains for a while have probably just gotten used to either stopping at Whole Foods before you head up the mountain, or just suffer through the week with non-organic convention produce from the local grocery stores.  Not any more!  From the moment you walk in the front door, you’ll know this isn’t some corporate run chain, rather, a store run by a local resident and entrepreneur who was tired of driving down the hill to get his organic fruits and vegetables.  By reading the Yelp reviews here you can clearly see what a welcomed addition to the community this store has become.

The classic wooden made shelves are filled with organic apples, pears, figs, butternut squash, and a variety of other fruits and vegetables that happen to be in season at the time.

While some of the produce is branded from larger organic farms, most produce in the store is locally sourced from local small farms and organic food wholesalers.  The organic free-range eggs travel a mear 15 minutes from mountain farms in the Crestline and Lake Arrowhead area, freshly delivered almost every day!   When you need high quality lettuce to make a nice organic salad and healthy veggies and dried goods to make a great meal, this little store remarkably has everything you need.  The shelves are thoughtfully filled with organic food essentials ranging from locally sourced fresh honey, Yogi teas, organic grains and legumes, and a range of natural supplements.

Grocery Stores in Lake Arrowhead

When enjoying your cabin rental in Lake Arrowhead, you’ll want to stock up on food and munchies, right?  Well, finding a grocery store in Lake Arrowhead isn’t hard but it helps to plan in advance.  Most stores close early, so check the store hours before making the trip.  The Lake Arrowhead area has a selection of grocery stores and convenience stores that range from basic necessities to full-sized stores that rival the big chain grocery stores in any big city.   While many choose to stock up their cabin rental before they head up the mountain, there are still plenty of choices here on the mountain.  Here is a list of grocery stores in the Lake Arrowhead area:

  • Jensen’s Foods – In their 75th year of business, Jensen’s is the rock in the community as far as grocery stores.  They understand their local market, and not only have all the typical food items you would want, but also fresh baked bread, BBQ supplies, personal care items and emergency supplies.  They do a great job of providing just about everything that might not be included in your cabin rental.  Jensen’s has two locations close to Lake Arrowhead.  On the west side of the lake in Blue Jay is their full sized store, and on the east side of the lake in Cedar Glen is their smaller “Minute Shoppe” convenience store.BLUE JAY LOCATION:

  • Natural Median Organics & Fair Trade Store – Lake Gregory, Crestline
    This is the only organic grocery store on the mountain.  While Jensen’s and Stater Brothers do carry a small selection of organic produce, the selection doesn’t compare to the high quality organic groceries and organic produce at Natural Median Organics.  Health aficionados should head straight here to stock up your cabin for the week.

  • 7-Eleven – Located close to Lake Arrowhead village, this is your typical 7-Eleven that is open 24 hours.

  • Five Points General Store – At the intersection of Highway 189 and Grass Valley Road.   This is closer to those staying in cabins or homes in the “Lake Arrowhead Woods” area.

  • Rite Aid Pharmacy – While not a grocery store, they have snacks and bottled water and everything you would expect to have in a Rite Aid.  The are in Blue Jay conveniently located off the highway and just a 5 minute drive from Lake Arrowhead Village:

Lake Arrowhead Oktoberfest

Lake Arrowhead Oktoberfest has arguably one of the most beautiful settings for a beer festival . . . beautiful Lake Arrowhead!   Oktoberfest is located in the “downtown” area of Lake Arrowhead Village.  This Lake Arrowhead festival boasts traditional German-style Oktoberfest music, stein holding contests, dancing,  a sauerkraut eating contest, and traditional German food such as bratwurst, knockwurst, sauerkraut, pretzels, and other foods from the various food vendors and local restaurants.

Of course the best part about Oktoberfest in Lake Arrowhead is the BEER!  Typical Oktoberfest beers that you’ll find at the Lake Arrowhead Village Oktoberfest are Spaten Oktoberfest, Spaten Optimator, Franziskaner Weissbier, and some other great beers like Stella Artois and Goose Island Pale Ale.

The Lake Arrowhead Oktoberfest celebration is free to attend so you don’t need a ticket!   So enjoy the music and festivities and vendors.   Of course the beer isn’t free, but just purchase a commemorative 16.907oz beer mug and your first drink ticket for $20 on Saturday or $15 on Sunday, then each additional beer is just $8.

For the 2015 Lake Arrowhead Oktoberfest, the festivities are on every Saturday & Sunday starting on September 19 and ending on October 25.   This is one of the Lake Arrowhead Festivals that you don’t want to miss!  So get yourself out of your comfortable cabin rental and head to the village!

Lake Arrowhead Pine Rose Cabins

Known as Lake Arrowhead’s only creek side cabin resort, Arrowhead Pine Rose Cabins are easy to get to and hard not to enjoy!  Pine Rose has about 20 cabins to rent, each with its own unique style and amenities.   Nearby in walking distance you’ll find the rustic and romantic restaurant The Grill at Antler’s Inn, as well as the Mountain High Market that stocks basic grocery necessities.  Just behind the Pine Rose resort property, you’ll find about a million acres of San Bernardino National Forrest where you can hike your socks off.    While their cabins are not in walking distance to the lake, it is just a short 10 minute drive down to Lake Arrowhead and all the action.  When searching to rent a cabin in Lake Arrowhead or Twin Peaks, the Pine Rose Cabins should definitely be on your list.
